Seismic Retrofit & Strengthening
OVERVIEW
Slater Waterproofing, Inc. specializes in Seismic Retrofit & Structural Strengthening of concrete and masonry utilizing carbon & glass fiber reinforced composite systems (FRP).
Conventional strenghtening techniques, although proven and based on well established design guidelines, are costly, time consuming and highly disruptive to owners/occupants. Fiber reinforced composites are viable alternatives often used in conjunction with conventional methods to provide an overall lower cost, less disruptive solution. These benefits result from composite properties that provide high strength to low weight ratios, excellent durability, ease & speed of installation.
Fiber reinforced composites can be used to improve structural properties related to shear, tensile, flexural, ductility, and confinement of walls, columns, beams, floors & decks.
Currently, ACI-44OF is a commitee finalizing design guidelines and criteria to provide a universally accepted approach to using FRP systems for infrastructure repair and retrofit. Additionally, Slater Waterproofing, Inc. provides a specific design support through our in-house engineering resources.
Significant lab & field-testing conducted by the world renowned Charles Lee Powel Structural Facility at UCSD qualifies the performance and reliability of the SCCI System. Additionally, ICSO AC-1 25 establishes testing criteria for durab and structural properties.
Slater Waterproofing, Inc. has proven successful in providing design through construction services thus insuring quality installation of the Slater Waterproofing System. In addition, a network of Slater Waterproofing, Inc. trained and approved contractors are available.
